The 25th National Fantasy Hockey League season includes 5 new franchises for a total of 55 teams divided into four divisions. The Hershey Hounds, Oshawa Turbos, Baton Rouge Brawlers, Josephburg Ice Demons and Burnaby Ice Dogs join 50 returning franchises for a chance at the Avco World Trophy.
The NFHL Prize Pool will be awarded to the NFHL Champion, Runner Up (2nd Overall) and 4 Division Champion. In addition the NFHL has expanded the Compensation Lottery prize pool. The top 25 teams will be eligible for the Compensation Prize Pool with teams higher in the standings having better odds in the lottery. In addition six monthly point leaders will win 'bonus' odds in the lottery.
