The NHL Playoff Pool which began as a 10 participant draft style pool in 1984 has changed over the years as more participants from all over world now participate in the pool. For the last three playoff seasons the pool format had participants selecting 32 players with the top 30 players counting in the pool. For the 35th Anniversary season the participants will have some new challenges and strategies to consider as the playoff pool takes a twist for the 2019 NHL Playoffs.
This playoff season the format will include and 'Active' and 'Reserve Roster' as well as the ability to have 'Transactions' between playoff rounds. This new format incorporates some of the game play from the NFHL regular season pool and brings it in to the Playoff Pool system. Participants will be challenged on how to build the Reserve Roster with those players only making it to the second round bringing any value. The 2019 NHL Playoff Pool could be one of our most challenging formats yet.
