This season NFHL general managers selected 38 goalies to fill out their goaltender roster. 15 of those goalies were only selected on only one NFHL roster. Meaning 40% of NFHL GM's unknowingly took a goalie that no one else would have on their roster.
Surprisingly no GM had faith in selecting Connor Hellebuyck despite having 34 wins the previous season and scoring 78 NFHL points last season. This season Hellebuyck would be third in goaltender scoring and on pace for 38 wins and over a 90 point NFHL season.
Perhaps it was concerns about this NHL teams defense and his over $6M cap hit. Still placing a goalie of his caliber on a Reserve Roster seems like a chance one of the GM's would have took.
We are sure there are many GM's that are looking at their present goaltending situation and realizing what an impact Hellebuyck could have made in their positions in the standings.
